'89–'98 Fire Ring Gasket – .080″ Thick, 4.560″ Wire O.D.
Upgrade your 12V Cummins (1989–1998) with our Fire Ring Gasket, engineered for reliable sealing under high boost and extreme horsepower. At .080″ thickness (1.8 mm) and 4.560″ wire O.D., this gasket is built to handle the stress of performance applications.
Gasket & Groove Specifications
Thickness: .080″ (1.8 mm)
Wire O.D.: 4.560″ (using .105″ wire)
Groove depth: .016″–.017″ in cylinder head with a .120″ radius cutter
Recommended Installation Steps
Surface Preparation
- Machine block & head for maximum flatness — especially important above 800 HP.
- Engines under 800 HP: cut groove in just the cylinder head. Over 800 HP: use a high-tensile ARP 625 fastener.
- Radiused cutter always recommended for best gasket-to-wire contact.
Studs Are Essential
- Use quality studs for proper clamp load.
- Generous lubrication on nuts, washers, threads for even torque.
- Never exceed manufacturer torque limits.
Torque Procedure
- Initial torque: 130 ft-lbs before first startup.
- Hot retorque after reaching operating temperature, while still warm.
- Recheck valve lash after each retorque — the gasket compresses further.
Built for high-horsepower applications beyond 800 HP, with precision .080″ thickness, radiused grooves, and .105″ wire for optimal sealing.
