178/208 Efficiency Camshaft — Steel

The steel-core version of Hamilton’s towing grind, for valvetrains carrying heavy spring pressure. Massive torque, better spool and strong power to 4,000 rpm — Hamilton calls this one the best choice for most builds. 49-state EPA compliant.

• Duration at .050" lift: 178° intake / 208° exhaust
• Lift: .310" intake / .320" exhaust
• Lobe separation: 110° LSA

Required Setup

A steel camshaft cannot run against bare cast iron.

• Steel tappets required
• Block must be machined for cam bushings — without them the steel cuts into the cast iron
• Hamilton warranties its cams only when run with Hamilton lifters and springs

Fitment

1989–2007 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins and 2007.5–2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins flat-tappet engines. Verify piston-to-valve clearance and supporting valvetrain before ordering.
