188/220 Hot Street & Strip Camshaft — Steel

The largest drop-in profile Hamilton offers. Built for trucks running a big single or compound turbos that need strong mid-range and top-end pull, this is the steel-core version for valvetrains carrying heavy spring pressure.

Specifications

  • Duration at .050" lift: 188° intake / 220° exhaust
  • Usable range: 1,700–4,500 rpm
  • Drops exhaust gas temperature by 200–300°F
  • Measured gains of 40–60 hp, depending on fueling and turbo

Built For

  • Drag strip
  • Stock class sled pulling
  • Hot street trucks on large single or compound turbos

Installation Notes

This is a drop-in profile, but clearances must still be checked before assembly.

  • 12-valve: no more than .018" piston protrusion and at least .055" valve face depth with a standard head gasket, 99° intake centerline
  • 24-valve: no more than .018" piston protrusion and at least .038" valve face depth with a standard gasket
  • Short on piston-to-valve clearance? An oversize head gasket or cut valve reliefs solve it
  • Steel core: at least two bushings must be installed in the cam tunnel, or the steel will cut into the cast iron block
  • Fit new lifters whenever the camshaft is changed

Warranty

Hamilton warranties its camshafts only when run with Hamilton lifters and valve springs.

Fitment

1989–2007 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins and 2007.5–2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins flat-tappet engines. Verify piston-to-valve clearance and supporting valvetrain before ordering.
