Installation Requirements
Cylinder Head Studs — high-strength studs required. ARP 625+ head studs recommended for high-cylinder-pressure applications.
Surface Preparation — cylinder head should be flat within .003" end-to-end; machine both head and block for best results.
Torque Procedure
1. Torque head studs to 130 ft-lbs during assembly.
2. Bring engine to operating temperature, perform a complete hot retorque while still warm.
3. Verify and adjust valve lash after retorque.
4. Perform at least one additional retorque before full boost/heavy load/max RPM.
Recommended for: high-performance street trucks, competition/race engines, high-boost turbo combinations, heavy towing with elevated cylinder pressure, builds producing 800+ horsepower.
