Ford 5.4L Triton V8 — Built Without Compromise

When it comes to the Ford 5.4L Triton V8, you need an engine built for more than just getting you back on the road. You need reliability, proper machine work, and attention to the areas these engines are known for.

At Dave’s Auto Center, you still get the “Dave’s Engines” expert touch and care with our stock 5.4L Triton builds. Built to meet or exceed manufacturer specifications, our engines are professionally machined using some of the finest Rottler CNC equipment available.

The 5.4L Triton is a 330-cubic-inch Ford Modular V8 with a 3.55-inch bore and 4.17-inch stroke. Depending on application and model year, the Triton was produced in 2-valve, 3-valve, and 4-valve configurations. Our builds are matched to the correct application and configuration rather than treating every 5.4L as the same engine.

Every engine block is align honed, CNC bored, and torque-plate honed to ensure proper cylinder geometry and ring seal. Cylinder heads receive a complete valve grind and precision surface machining. Pistons and connecting rods are closely weight-matched, while quality Clevite and Mahle internal components are used throughout the build.

We also pay particular attention to the areas that have made certain 5.4L Triton engines notorious over the years. Depending on the specific generation, these engines can have concerns involving spark-plug threads, timing-chain components, tensioners, and—on the 3-valve engines—variable camshaft timing and related components. Ford's own documentation identifies the 3-valve 5.4L as using individually chain-driven camshafts, hydraulic chain tensioners, and variable camshaft timing.

The result is a 5.4L Triton built with the attention to detail you'd expect from Dave’s Engines—without unnecessary modifications or compromises.

You need a quality, reliable 5.4L Triton build. We can deliver that right to your door.

Possible Upgrades

Savings

*At least 15% gains in fuel mileage and 50% extensions in oil change intervals have been observed across all test engines to date. Reports are still coming in of customers experiencing numbers greater than that in addition to drastic reduction in regen cycles, DEF use and NoX emissions, reductions in exhaust opacity and smoother and quieter engine operation.
