1.45" DLC-Coated Steel Tappets
Hamilton Cams steel tappets built for engines running 110 lb or heavier valve springs at sustained high rpm. The 1.45" face is gas carburized, polished and finished with a Diamond-Like Carbon coating that cuts friction and resists the scuffing that ends a flat-tappet valvetrain early.

Required Setup
These tappets must be run with a steel camshaft. Pairing steel tappets with a cast cam, or the reverse, wears both parts out quickly.
- Steel camshaft required
- Diesel oil with adequate zinc, phosphorus and molybdenum — thin, low-additive oils do not build the film a flat tappet needs
- Correct valve lash; valve float damages the DLC layer

1989–2007 Dodge Ram 5.9L Cummins and 2007.5–2018 Ram 6.7L Cummins flat-tappet builds using a compatible steel camshaft.
